She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence P. Handley Sr. and Fannie M. Handley (Walters); her husbands, Charles M. Smith Jr. and Henry H. Poland; her siblings, Earl Handley, Clarence P. "Bud" Handley and Ruth Luhn; her grandchildren, Alan Morris, Jennifer Burns and Melissa Geisbert; her children-in-law, Chester L. Morris Jr., Lloyd Ramey and Bonnie Smith; and her niece Marie Yohn.

She is survived by: her children, Veda Darlene Morris, Gene D. Smith Sr., Diane M. Burns, Mary Teresa Smith and Patricia G. Knott (Brian); and her nieces, Faith Lucas and Sharon Burdette. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
