He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Doris Sarah Hoar (Burgee); his wife Kathy E. Stewart; his children, James D. Stewart (Sonja), Lisa D. Leidig (Doug), Al J. Stewart (Emily) and Kelli R. Hebron (Haroun); and his sister Donna Fleming.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Brunswick Little League.
