He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin C. Cooley and Maggie E. Davis Cooley; and his siblings, John Franklin Cooley, Sr., Calvin Roger Cooley (Buddy) and Ollie Mae Tavenner.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Louise Miles Cooley; his son Gordon M. Cooley (Teresa Warfield Cooley) of Ijamsville, MD.; his grandchildren, Adam Warfield Cooley (Mitchell Porter) of San Diego, CA. and Allison Cooley Hartwigsen (Dustin Hartwigsen); his great grandchildren, Noah of Frederick, MD. and Lainie Hartwigsen of Frederick, MD.; and his sisters, Hazel Elizabeth Crofton and Nancy Faye Dixon. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Homewood Foundation in support of Homewood at Frederick Benevolent Care, 16107 Elliott Parkway, Williamsport, MD 21795.
