He is survived by: his wife Alieze Weaver Birkett; his sons, Ernest Steven (Lorraine Birkett), Erick Leroy (Deborah Birkett), Gary Alan (Terri Birkett) and Kevin Wayne (Jolene Birkett); his grandchildren, Melissa Ekard, Nathan Birkett, Elizabeth Heitzman, Laura Dillingham, Juliana Birkett, Emily Birkett, Adam Birkett, Christian Birkett, Katherine Birkett and Jared Birkett; and his siblings, Elizabeth Heffner of Annapolis, MD and Arnold Birkett of Florida. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
