He was predeceased by: his son-in-law Clinton Sheffie Bratton; his grandson Travis Aaron Bratton; his daughter Danita Billings Banks; his son-in-law Donald Robertson; and his grandson Donny Robertson.

He is survived by: his daughters, Cynthia Smith (Jack), Virginia Ann Bratton and Karen Robertson; and his grandchildren, Josh, Jason, Jeremy Haney, Joel, Jon-Erich Smith, James Paul, Christopher Ray Bratton, Andrew Beckham, Dawn Michelle Carr and Kammy Hamilton. He is also survived by 15 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
