He was predeceased by: his wife Maxine Akers; his close friend Pat Crouse (Clark); his parents, Walter Bruce and Condie Katherine Akers (Newman); his son Jeffrey Scott Akers; and his siblings, Frances Graybeal, Geraldine McMillan, Catherine Edwards, Bob Akers, Randall Gregory Akers and Roger Akers.
