He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, George Baumgardner and Virginia Baumgardner (Clingan); his wife Patricia Baumgardner (Hamel); and his children, Amy Elizabeth Anderson, Brandy Elizabeth Day (Matthew) and Derek Justin Baumgardner (Joelma).

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Eline Funeral Home - Finksburg (2901 Bloom Rd, Finksburg, MD 21048). A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

“John was a welcomed member of the Westminster Senior Center, where he generously gave of his time volunteering in the Dining Hall. He also prepared and presented history programs for seniors with developmental disabilities. Those programs drew the interest and participation of those seniors, and the calm poise and patience John demonstrated with our group made it obvious he was a born teacher. He was also a great guy to shoot the bull with, and he will be missed by all of us. - David Foster”
