He was predeceased by: his parents, Ada Marie Shaeffer (Owings) and Benjamin A. Shaeffer, Sr.; his wife Clara Jean Shaeffer; and also Brenda Zentz. He is survived by: his children, Barbara Downing of Mt. Airy, Robert (Donna Shaeffer), Beverly (Robert Flater), Sandra (Ira Barnes) and Janet (Duane Krolicki). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
