He is survived by: his children, Janae Rivera and Gary Akins, Jr.; his grandchildren, Ge'Aria, KiMani, Gary Akins, III, Kali, Gianni and Ge'Mari; his close friends, Calvin Wilcox and LaVerne Frazier; his siblings, Linda Friend-Hyman, Letecia Franco (William "DBrid"), Jose Franco (Robin), Larry Friend (Lisa) and Joyce Smith (Jesse); and his aunt Doris Young. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
