He was predeceased by: his parents, Elden Tunnell and Emma Seward Tunnell; his wife Phyllis Ann "Kitty" Murphy; and his siblings, Bill Lamb, Jr. and Ellen Thrope.

He is survived by: his children, Sylvia (Donnie), Connie (Jerry), Heart Smith, Marvetta (Leon) and Cory Aviles (Tameka); and his brothers, Eldon Tunnell, Jr. and Terry Lamb. He is also survived by grandchildren and 17 Great-grandchildren.
