He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Koontz and Mary Koontz (Brown); his daughter Beverly Koontz; and his siblings, Evelyn Manahan, Katherine Stahley, Ethel Riley, Anna Topper, Dot Preston, Ruth Swartz, Bill, Lloyd and James Koontz.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Jean Koontz (Swartz); his daughter Cynthia Lenhart (Allen) of Thurmont; his granddaughter Kayla Lenhart; and his siblings-in-law, Norman "Chester" Swartz of Emmitsburg and Shirley Duvall of Frederick.
