He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Mary Aline Rekus (Walsh); his children, Michael (Paulette Rekus), Margaret (David Murphy), Karen (Benjamin Welsh) and Janice (Michael Kalinock); his grandchildren, Margaret Murphy (Kevin Slafkosky), Kathleen Murphy, Jane Kalinock, MaryKate Kalinock, Grace Welsh, Joseph (Megan Rekus), Anna Welsh, Maria Rekus, Sarah Welsh, Jason Kalinock, Benjamin Welsh and Jonathon Rekus; his sisters-in-law, Jeanne (Edward Walker) and Catherine Walsh; his nephews, Sean Walker and Edward Walker; and his parents, Joseph Edward and Stella Rekus (Pietrewicz).
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Slack Funeral Home (3871 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043). A celebration of life was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Oakland Mills Interfaith Center (5885 Robert Oliver Pl, Columbia, MD 21045).
