He is survived by: his siblings, Harald (Beverly), Leita (John) and Bill Kingsland (Tammy); and also Halo. He is also survived by seven nieces, niephew, and nephews, as well as three grandnieces.
He was exceedingly proud of his namesake, John Paul, his maternal great uncle, and enjoyed telling stories of his work as a doctor and contributions to the development of the polio vaccine.
