He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew McCarthy and Alice Dean McCarthy. He is survived by: his wife Betty MacKay McCarthy; and his children, William M. McCarthy of Norristown, PA, Joseph Letts, Jr. (Michelle) of Elkton, MD, Amy Letts (Janet) of Deltona, FL and Susan Letts Waltzer (Lance) of Dover, DE. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
