He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas S. Trimmer and Charlotte J. Trimmer; and his siblings, Thomas T. Trimmer and Suzanne Darmstead. He is survived by: his wife Marsha Taylor Trimmer; his children, James Trimmer, Jr. of Annapolis, MD, Jennifer Mullin of Bogata, TX and Jason Trimmer of Edgewater, MD; his grandchildren, Austin, Shelby and Cheyenne Williams; and his children, Bryce, Anya Trimmer and Mason Kramer.
