He was predeceased by: his parents, James Stakem and Dora Stakem; his wife Edie; his daughter Mary Agnes; his siblings, John, Martin and Mary Ellen; and his son-in-law Michael.
He is survived by: his children, Mary "Maggi" Hohenstein (Ron), James F. Stakem, III, Joseph Stakem, Katherine "Katie" Miracle (Michael) and Theresa "Terri" Pla (Tony); his brother Francis "Cecil" Swann; and his sister-in-law Joan Stakem. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
