With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Virginia Barrett of Eden, Maryland, who passed away on May 13, 2022 at the age of 96. She was predeceased by: her husband Lonnie J. Burkes; her former husband Leonard Barrett; and her siblings, Else Dennard, Rosalee Brown, James, Yule, Leroy, Louis and Bobby Kirkland.
She is survived by: her children, Lonnie F. Burkes, Sr. and Bernice Johnson-Burkes; her grandchildren, Lonnie, Todd, Marcus, Rochelle and Courtney; and her siblings, Margaret Saunders, Odessa McNealy and Ozella Battle. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
