He was predeceased by: his spouse Rose Marie Hornyak; and his sibling Dorothy McCauley. He is survived by: his children, Mary Kate Ryner (David), Joseph (Susan), John (Barbara) and Paul Hornyak; his siblings, Dolores Cavanaugh (Jack) and Helen Hillwig; and his grandchildren, Molly Ryner, Erin Ryner, Jacob Hornyak and Gianna Hornyak.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Father McKenna Center, 19 Eye Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001.
