She was predeceased by: her parents, William Joseph Appel, Jr. and Mary Louise Lynch Appel. She is survived by: her husband Ernest Matthews; her daughters, Theresa Elizabeth Haggerty (Andrew) and Barbara Lynn Matthews; her grandson Nicholas Andrew Haggerty; and her sisters, Janet Appel Strong and Judith Lovelace. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
