He was predeceased by: his parents, Chase Mears and Edith Mears (Woods); and his brother Donald Mears. He is survived by: his children, Kevin Chase Mears, Justin Thomas Mears and Jennifer Nicole Blakney; his grandson Joshua Blakney; his sisters, Susane Merritt, Marion Mears, Cindy Weber, Janet Hockman and Crissy Bates; and his former wife Terri Merritt.
