It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Files Murphy of Cumberland, Maryland, who passed away on October 26, 2024, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Murphy and Virginia Murphy; his siblings, James, Jack, Virginia, Patrick and Mary; and his wife Barbara of John's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by: his children, Cindy Chisholm (Roy Chisholm) of Cumberland, John Murphy (Tammy Murphy) of Cumberland and Barbara Chaney (Randy Chaney) of Cumberland; his grandchildren, Anna, Matt of Ruth, R. D., Andrew, Jairus, Savannah and Jenna; and his great grandchildren, Abigail, Eden, Ellie and Macie. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 29th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Cornerstone Baptist Church (930 Frederick St, Cumberland, MD 21502). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 29th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
