Harriet Catherine (Bittinger) Broadwater Obituary

Harriet Catherine Broadwater, 72, of Barton, Md., died Thursday, August 21, 1958, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.

Born on February 6, 1886, in Garrett County, Md., she was a daughter of the late Levi M. Bittinger Sr., and Rebecca Susan (Broadwater) Bittinger. In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by seven brothers, Silas Bittinger, William Bittinger, George Bittinger, James Bittinger, Geri Bittinger, Levi Bittinger Jr., and Howard Bittinger, and two sisters, Ida Broadwater and Nancy Bittinger.

Mrs. Broadwater was a member of the Broadwater Chapel of the Dunkard Brethren Church at Bond.

Surviving are her husband, Harmon G. Broadwater; five sons, Howard W. Broadwater and Grover C. Broadwater, both of Cumberland; Edward C. Broadwater and Herbert L. Broadwater, both of Baltimore, and Robert H. Broadwater, of Barton; 11 daughters, Minnie E. Broadwater, Dorothy A. Wilt, Theresa P. Broadwater, Nellie E. Llewellyn and Lillie M. Broadwater, all of Barton; Della V. Beeman and Edith C. Long, both of Cumberland; Flossie O. Beeman, of Lonaconing; Myrtle M. Broadwater, of Reading, Pa., and Rosella J. Rounds and Thelma M. Bittinger, both of Grantsville; 60 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph Bittinger, of Grantsville; Benjamin Bittinger, of Baltimore, and John Bittinger, of Lonaconing, and two sisters, Martha Beeman, of Grantsville, and Mary Green, of Nikep.

The body will remain at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, until 12:30 p.m. Sunday when it will be taken to Broadwater Chapel for services at 2:30 p.m. Melvin Roesch, elder of the Chapel, will officiate.

Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Moscow.
