He is survived by: his children, Barbara Porter (Warren), Susan Currey and Gary O. Smith Jr.; and his sisters, Marg Young and Brenda "Sue" Helmsteter. He is also survived by six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and an extended family with stepchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
