We are sad to announce that on December 13, 2024, at the age of 96, Albert Richard Shaffer Jr. of Cumberland, Maryland passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Richard and Dora Ellen Shaffer (Turner); and his wife Shirley Jean Shaffer (Sapp). He is survived by: his children, Greg R. Shaffer (Linda), Sharon Haines (John), Alan L. Shaffer (Kathleen) and Nancy L. Redman (Chas); his grandchildren, Roxanne Snyder (Rick), Brandy Fisher, John Haines, Jr. (Meredith), Erin Denne (Nick), Lyndsay Jackson (Shawn), Charlee Bezilla (Tyler) and Alec Redman (Lisa); and his great grandchildren, Jake, Josh Snyder, Madelyn, Aubrey Fisher, Bella, John Russell Haines, Sam, Maggie Denne, Keller, Beauregard Albert Jackson, Sophie and Phoebe Redman.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 17th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Scarpelli Funeral Home (108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland, MD 21502). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Al's name may be directed to the "Fort Hill Scholarship Fund" and mailed to Fort Hill High School, 500 Greenway Avenue, Cumberland, MD 21502. The family has chosen to send donations to Fort Hill Scholarship FundDonate Now (https://www.acpsmd.org).
