He was predeceased by : his stepfather Willia Lee Avery. He is survived by : his parents, Cecelia Turner and Cleveland Hope McDowney, Sr.; his children, Cleveland McDowney III, Alianto "Ali" McDowney, Jaywana "Deenie" McDowney and Olympia "OJ" McDowney; his sister Gwendolyn O'Connor; and his stepsister Robin McDowney. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
