He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Irene Yvonne Kuhla and Michael Joseph Kuhla; his siblings, Dolores M. Kirkendall and Donald Kuhla; his wife Gloria Newman; and his brother Bernard Kuhla. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan Hospice of Southern New Jersey or the United States Naval Academy Alumni Association Foundation.
