He is survived by: his children, Dawn Horne (Jayr), Michelle Johnson of Salisbury and James Johnson, Jr. of Salisbury, Maryland; his siblings, Horace Johnson, Jr., Mae Emma Johnson of Princess Anne, Maryland and Doretha Johnson Warren of Princess Anne, Maryland; his grandchildren, Na'uosha Johnson, Liyah Hill, Armya Horne, Shakor Johnson, Lamont Duggins and Asher; his great grandchild Ny'Lan; and his brother Harry J. Maddox. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, other family and friends.
