He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Charles and Edna Smith (Fansler) of Virginia; his son Michael D. Smith; his brother Charles Smith; and his fiancée Patricia Wilson.
He is survived by: his daughter Monica L. Boor (Wes); his grandchildren, Brianna Cross (Burton), Kalee Boor, Taylor Smith (Alana), Nicole Hagelin (Nathan), Michaela Smith and Madison Smith; and his siblings, Brenda Helmstetter, Gary Smith and Margaret Young (Jerry). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
