With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of William Albert Vogel of Columbia, Maryland, born in Washington, District of Columbia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 14, 2024 at the age of 98. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Alfred Vogel and Martha Stehman Vogel; his mother-in-law Marianne Vogel (Schwalb); and his siblings, Frederick Vogel, Richard Vogel and Mary Vogel Farley.

He is survived by: his wife Sonja (Opperman); his stepchildren, Marie Skolnick (Curtis), Paul Patrick and Wendy Griffith (Brian); his stepgrandchildren, Annika, Olivia Griffith, Jason and Sara Skolnick; his nieces and nephews, Fred Vogel (Mary), Harry Vogel, Martha Taishoff, Patty Vogel (John), Bill Vogel (Patti), David Vogel (Jill), Frank Farley (Jeanine), John Farley (Olga), Patrick Farley (Janet), Mike Farley (Mimi) and Michael Browning (Michiyo); his cousins, Daniel Edwards (Terry), Holly Edwards (Jeff), Bill, Carolyn and Glenn Engle; his son Scott Hering (Sandy); and his grandchildren, Chase and Kylie Hering.
