He was predeceased by: his father Lawrence Ellsworth Kern; his children, Charissa Deanne Kern Shackleford of Middle River, MD and Gary Lawrence Kern of Elkton, MD; and his siblings, Elwood Kern, Eugene Kern, Beverly Kern (Dick), Kenneth Kern, Genevieve Kern Gorman, Geraldine Kern Shepard and Barbara Kern Malin.
He is survived by: his daughter Lori R. Frebert; his children-in-law, David A. Frebert of Port Deposit, MD. and Sarah Kern; his sister Betty Lou Kern Quiggle; his brother-in-law Gerry Quiggle (Mary Lou Kern Arnett) of Schererville, IN; and his brother Linwood Kern of Gettysburg, PA..
In lieu of flowers his daughter, Lori, is receiving memorial donations towards funeral expenses.
