He was predeceased by: his parent Ida Wilhelmina Jansen Schmitz; his spouse Ada Eleanor Faunce Schmitz; and his siblings, Mary Deal, Loraine Swagman and Bernard Schmitz.
He is survived by: his parent Edward Peter Schmitz; his children, Thomas Philip Schmitz of Silver Springs, MD, Lawrence Edward Schmitz (Maria) of Plano, TX, Leonard Joseph Schmitz (Barbara) of Gaithersburg, Gregory Paul Schmitz (Bobbi) of Colton and Eleanor Marie Schmitz Webb (Arthur) of Clarksburg, MD; and his sister Betty Chrysler. He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren.
