He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas K. Black and Anna Kathryn Black (Goetz); and his wife Mary Frances Black. He is survived by: his children, Arin Knotts (Randy) and Chris Black (Erin); his sisters, Norma Hartsock of Williamsport, Patricia Hutzell of Martinsburg, WV and Linda Redmond of Georgia; his grandchildren, Kira Knotts, Keely Knotts and Maddux Black; and his close friend Dorothy Dean.
