He was predeceased by: his wife Edith Marie Sword (Blair); his grandsons, Curtis Jr. and Daniel Carbaugh; and his siblings, Leah Sword, Hilda Bricker, Daisy Fitz, Marylou Yeager, Carl and Robert Sword.
He is survived by: his children, David Sword (Michelle), Carolyn Carbaugh (Curtis) and Matthew Sword (Courteney); and his brother Frederick Sword of Hagerstown, MD.. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
