He was predeceased by: his sister Carol Babus; and his parents, Blanche Hirschhorn and Leon Hirschhorn. He is survived by: his wife Jaqueline M. Rams; and his daughters, Terri Hayes and Lesa Stewart.

During the pandemic, Dr Hirschhorn published many articles for early home/outpatient treatment.
