Edith Shepard Grassi Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Edith Shepard Grassi of Chestertown, Maryland, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 21, 2025 at the age of 101. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Gaines Gwathmey and Edith Gwathmey; her spouse Ettore Howard "Bud" Grassi; her son Temple Grassi; and her brother Gaines Gwathmey.
She is survived by: her sister Nancy Harris; her children, Louise Whitney (Karen Smith) and Ned Grassi (Judith); her daughter-in-law Eleuthera Grassi; her grandchildren, Stephen Whitney, Jason Whitney, Eli Whitney, Melissa Purcell (Andrew), Charlotte Ramirez (Alex) and Helen Vest (Chad); and her great grandchildren, Emily Whitney, William Whitney, Eleuthera Aukamp, William Aukamp, Lyle Vest, Blair Vest, Andrew Purcell Jr., Sophie Purcell and Margaret Purcell.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church (101 N Cross St, Chestertown, MD 21620-1527).
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Gunston School at P.O. Box 200 Centreville, MD 21617.
