He is survived by: his parent Frances Hines; his wife Moire Scherl; his sons, Michael Scherl (Sarah) of Chester, MD and Andrew Scherl of Charleston, SC; his grandchildren, Emma Rae Scherl of Chester, MD and Julia Ogens of Chester, MD; and his siblings, Frances Scherl Lewis of Asheville, NC, Edward Scherl of Ocean City, MD, Thomas Scherl of Henderson, NC and Maryellen Scherl of Reedville, VA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
