He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ann Shawyer (Gossard); his children, Garie E. Shawyer, Jr. of Greencastle, PA and Heather R. Shawyer (Rylan J. Bowers) of Cavetown, MD; his siblings, Margaret Walters (Henry) of Hagerstown, MD, Sherry Funk (Harry) of Keedysville, MD, Dennis Shawyer (Virginia) of Hagerstown, MD, Timothy Shawyer of Hagerstown, MD and John Gossard (Deborah) of Hagerstown, MD; his grandchildren, Jonathan Shawyer, Kaylin Kinsey, James Shawyer, Nathaniel Shawyer and Justin Ragland, Jr.; and his great grandchild Michael D. Shawyer. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
