He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard L. Slacum, Sr. and Madeline Lowe Slacum; and his brother Richard Slacum, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Slacum of Cambridge; his daughters, Terry Cusick (Donnie) and Donna Yackley (James) of Salisbury; his grandchildren, Brittanie Brooks (Tom) of North Carolina and Haley Martin (Justin) of Maryland; and his great grandchildren, Gavin of North Carolina, Mason of North Carolina, Lilly of North Carolina and Della of North Carolina. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
