He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Askins and Alice Askins; his sons, Timothy Askins and Leo Keene; his siblings, Daphine Mitchell, Elsie Churchwell, Florence Askins, Valerie Woods, Eva Burton, Marzella Elliott, George and Clifton Askins; his parents-in-law, Leon and Irene Chester; and his brothers-in-law, Leon Jr., Raymond, Joseph, Benjamin, Roosevelt and Johnny Chester.
He is survived by: his wife Anne Askins; his children, Sharon Warner (Norman), Annie "Hopie" Keene, LaDonna Young, Irene, Amy Askins, Leon Askins Jr. (Katy), Charles Askins (Barbara) and Gregory Askins (Davette); his sister Savannah Askins; his siblings-in-law, Curtis Mitchell, Jackie, Leroy (Loistein), Joe Chester (Deanna) and Joanne McCready (Darren); and his grandson Tyron'e Cropper Jr.. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
