Joy T. Carpenter Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joy T. Carpenter of Cambridge, Maryland, who passed away on November 4, 2022 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John Henry Tieder and Lena Phortner Tieder; her husband Jim (Jim); her siblings, Roslyn Elliott, Hazel Ero, John, Robert and Ernest Tieder; and her foster sister Betty Conkins of Crookston Minnesota.

She is survived by: her children, John Edward (Jack) of Washington, D. C, Jane Bowers (John) and JoAnne Kelly Georgetown of Massachusetts; her grandchildren, Rebecca Emily Davis (Trey) of Cambridge, Erica Jane Thomas (CJ) of Cambridge and Aidan Kelly of Bloomfield Connecticut; her stepgranddaughter Allison Kelly Salem of Connecticut; her great grandchild Charli Reese Thomas of Cambridge; her nieces, Rosemary Noble, Columbia of Maryland and Cynthia Bourquard West Newberry of Massachusetts; and her nephew Jim Ero.

She served on the Board of Dorchester Community Services, Channel Markers Inc., the Channel Marker Foundation and the Cambridge Library. She also volunteered for the American Cancer Society and was a reading tutor.
