She was predeceased by: her parents, Ralph R Gordy and Martha Pusey Gordy; her husband John; her stepmother Margaret Gordy; and her sister Nancy Rinehart.
She is survived by: her sons, J. Michael Cottingham (Mary), J. Patrick Cottingham (Karen) and Jeffrey T. Cottingham (Stacy); her grandchildren, Dr. Patrick Cottingham (Kim Middleton), Kelly Cottingham (Sean Droms), Charles B. Wrightson (Barrie Lynn), Rebecca Lewis (Andy), Daniel Cohen, Andrea Cottingham, Katherine Sechser and Shannon Cottingham; her great grandchildren, Layla, Wyatt Lewis, Chloe, AJ Wrightson, Miles and Sechser; and her nieces and nephews, Virginia Schnepel, Pam Sears, Suzanne Bishop, Nancy Rodriguez, Gary and Carl Cottingham.
