It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Eleanor Spence of Bushwood, Maryland, born in Leonardtown, Maryland, who passed away on October 28, 2024, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Milford "Tom" Hodges, Sr. and Eleanor Agnes Turner Hodges. She is survived by: her husband James William "Jimmy" Spence, Sr. of Bushwood, MD; her sons, James William "Jay" Spence, Jr. of Bushwood, MD, Jon Robert Spence (Jessica) of Chaptico, MD and Jerel Hodges "Jerry" Spence of Bushwood, MD.; her grandchildren, Jacob William Spence of Chaptico, MD. and Jenna Renee Spence of Chaptico, MD.; and her siblings, James Milford "Jimmie" Hodges, Jr. (late Mary Lee), Margaret Hodges Williams (late Leroy) and Thomas Robert Hodges (Patricia). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 5th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home (41590 Fenwick St, Leonardtown, MD 20650). A prayer was held on Tuesday, November 5th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the Mattingley Gardiner Funeral Home (41590 Fenwick St, Leonardtown, MD 20650). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 6th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (23070 Maddox Rd, Bushwood, MD 20618).
