He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Nathan Sumlar and Lena Belle Sumlar; his grandmother Stella Kee; and his sister Barbery Mae Ridley. He is survived by: his friend Mattie Ellis; his wife Rosa Mae Sumlar; his sons, Tracy and Travis Sumlar (Cawana); and his siblings, David Jones (Delores) and Janie Moody. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM and on Saturday, March 8th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM and on Saturday, March 8th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A burial will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Fort Lincoln Cemetery (3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20772).
