He is survived by: his wife Patricia Mudd (Patty); his children, LaWanda Oates and Walter T. Oates; his daughter-in-law Miranda; his grandchildren, William L. Ferrell and Tamera Oates; and his sister Roberta Brandon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
