He was predeceased by: his father Daniel Wallace Johnson, Sr.; his daughter Terry Davis Latasha Johnson; and his brothers, Robert, William, Kenneth, Wallace and Van.

He is survived by: his wife Lois Johnson; his children, Richard, Daniel III, Floyd, Shirl, Olivia, Latisha and Roslyn; his sisters, Barbara (Bill) and Debra (Skip); and his sisters-in-law, Deborah Johnson and Betty Robinson. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren.
