She was predeceased by: her parents, Lindsay and Cleola Strait, Sr.; and her husband Otis Rudolph Sanders, Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Carolyn E. Dorsey (Roy), Lindsay M. (Dorothy) and Garry D. Sanders (Darlinda); her siblings, Sam (Lucy), Larry, Henry Strait (Gloria) and Betty Ann McCrorey; and her sister-in-law Phyllis Strait. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren.
