He was predeceased by: his parents, James Louis Baden Sr. and Mildred Ophelia Baden. He is survived by: his children, James L. Baden Ill (Balinda), Angie Goertz (Curtis) and April Bradshaw (Robert Jr.); his grandchildren, Robert Goertz and Emma Baden; and his stepgrandsons, Robert J. Bradshaw, Logan Bradshaw and Ryan Sears.

Memorials in James' name may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake Foundation.
