Joe Sullivan wrote a sympathy message

“Bill will always be remembered as a great mentor, leader, friend and partner to so many of us. I first met Bill, over 30 years ago, during the HST COSTAR program. Our work collaboration continued through the recent JWST program. His integrity and work ethic were a guiding light for the young Engineers and Technicians that worked with him both for NASA and our Ball Aerospace team. My life was enriched working with Bill and calling him my friend. He will be greatly missed!”

Randal Telfer wrote a sympathy message

“Very sad to hear of Bill’s passing, he was truly a great mentor for myself and many others. No exaggeration to say that working with Bill was responsible for most of my early career, starting with the CASTLE stimulus and WFC3, then OSIM/ISIM and NIRCam and OTIS, all of it came out of working with Bill and the doors he opened for me. I learned from Bill almost daily not only about I&T but simply how to work and do things right. I will miss him but strive to help carry on his legacy.”

Maria B Vila wrote a sympathy message

“So very sorry to hear about Bill's passing. He was a wonderful, kind person and consider myself very lucky to have had the chance to work with him on the James Webb Space Telescope - his expertise was always very valued and it was a pleasure to talk with him. My deepest condolences Diane and all the family - words are inadequate.”
