He was predeceased by: his parents, James Cheek and Earlene Cheek; and his sister Valerie Johnson. He is survived by: his children, Adora Browne, James Cheek Jr. and Brandon Cheek; his grandchildren, Derrick Barnes, Nathan Smith, Joshua Browne, Skyy Cheek and Madolynn Cheek; his siblings, Patricia Cheek, Gregory W. Cheek, Sr., David Cheek (Lesha) and Kellee Allen; and his brother-in-law James Robinson.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association and Bowie State University Scholarship Fund.
