Carlton Munson Obituary
We are sad to announce that on July 16, 2024, at the age of 83, Carlton Munson (Boonsboro, Maryland) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Munson and Catherine Lewis Munson; and his siblings-in-law, Wilford Smith, James Slifer and Deloris Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Joan E. Munson; his sister-in-law I. Nadine Slifer; his nephew Ron Slifer; and his nieces, Dianne Collinson and Jennifer Slifer. He is also survived by one great-niece; and three great-nephews; three great-grand-niece; and one great-grand-nephew.
Dr. Munson's contributions to clinical practice in mental health have been recognized by a number of outstanding awards: the American Society of Psychoanalytic Physicians Dr. Henry P. & Page Laughlin Award as Distinguished Teacher; the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence Education Achievement Award; and the Maryland Society for Clinical Work, Social Work Educator of the Year.
